किसी भी युद्ध में टैंक(Tank) बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं. प्रथम और द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में भी इन्होंने बहुत बड़ी भूमिका निभाई थी. ब्रिटेन में इन्हें पहले Landships कहा जाता था. प्रथम विश्व युद्ध से पहले इंग्लैंड ने फ़्रांस के साथ मिलकर भारी मात्रा में टैंक्स बनाने का निर्णय लिया था.
इसका पहला इस्तेमाल ब्रिटेन ने Battle Of The Somme में किया था. ब्रिटेन की 79th Armoured Division ने मेजर जनरल Percy Hobart के नेतृत्व में इन बख्तरबंद वाहनों के अलग-अलग स्वरूपों को तैयार किया था. विश्व युद्ध में जब टैंक की भारी मात्रा में आवश्यकता पड़ी तो ब्रिटेन ने महिलाओं को इसे बनाने के काम के लिए भर्ती कर लिया था.
पहले और दूसरे विश्व युद्ध में ब्रिटेन, यूरोप और अमेरिका में दिन-रात टैंक बनाने का काम चला था. चलिए तस्वीरों के ज़रिये देखते हैं कि उस दौर में फ़ैक्ट्रियों में टैंक किस तरह से बनाए जाते थे और उस दौरान वहां का माहौल कैसा था.
